portfolio > Artist Residency in Motherhood

Artist Residency in Motherhood is a project created by social practice artist Lenka Clayton. This project offers an "open-source framework [for] anyone to implement in their own homes and lives as parents and artists...There are currently hundreds of registered artists-in-residence on six continents."

After my second daughter was born in 2017, I needed a way to structure my limited time in the studio, and to mark the powerful, however fleeting moments of making. I registered and began my artist residency in motherhood on November 21, 2017. The residency will last one year.

My first project of the residency has been #tinytemporarycollages and small prints on paper exploring temporality in the studio and carrying/gathering as metaphor.
